The module aims at observing the various properties and materials used in the construction of structures. The different properties of materials such as compression, tension, plasticity, rigidity and the different forces acting on it such as restoring and deforming forces. The foundations are the most crucial part of the structure. They carry the load from he top of the building to the ground and disperse the load to the ground. The deeper the foundation, more the structure is firm and hence prevents uplifting of the structure. In the structure below, the load transfer is shown from the parapet wall to the floor slab then to the beams and onto to columns and then the floor slab. It finally transfers the load onto the foundations.

The beam depth is 0.50m

The column height is 3.03m and its thickness is 0.10m

The column width is 0.70m

This module helps us learn the various types of materials used in the construction of structures, the different types of foundations such as pile, raft, stepped and isolated footings
