We started this module with a study visit to Mirya Bandar, a place in Ratnagiri. We were divided into 5 groups where we chose a house and started working with the plan and section of the house primarily. Then we took a part of the village for our study purpose and started creating a shrine where one can gather around, rest and meditate.
We were instructed to create a space by getting the actual sense of materials, the cost approximation, the amount of wood required and other construction details. So the structure that I created was depicted as shown below:
A MODEL ON 1:50 RATIO
A MODEL ON 1:200 RATIO
Next we placed our installations on the site map of Ratnagiri and located them accurately using a base line:
The location of my installation was done by taking 2 trees as a base line and was done on a scale of 1:200.
Next I constructed a plan and section of my structure
Then we were instructed on how woods are joined together to make a specific structure and we were told to identify which types of wood joineries were used in our models. So the construction assignment involved both the foundation of the structure and the wood joineries used in constructing it.
So with this we concluded the module. We learnt how to use a specific and proper ratio for constructing a structure and figure out the different joineries used in making it. Also I got to now what should be land conditions and how the area needs to be utilized for the construction of any structure.
